Education and Professional Experience

Dr. Xu has been involved in clinical, educational and research work for over 25 years in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. After completing her residency (1991-1996), she started her career as a lecturer (July. 1997-Sept.2003) and associate professor (Oct. 2003-Mar. 2013) in the Affiliate Hospital of Medical College, Qingdao University, which is a medical and educational center with 125-year history in her hometown Qingdao, Shangdong Province. Supported by SasagawaFundation and China Health Ministry, she studied and worked in Japan (April 2004-March 2005, April 2007-March 2008) and obtained her medical Ph.D degree from Kyoto Prefecturual University of Medicine, Japan. She further completed her Post-doc work in the same university hospital (April 2009 –October 2010). Now she is the Associate Professorof Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PekingUniversity Third Hospital, which is famous for the first IVF baby born in China.

Specialties

While she is experienced in general gynecological and obstetrical management, she specializes in the treatment of endometriosis, minimally invasive procedures including laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, and gynecological endocrinology. She also has good experience in treating cervical disease. She is a knowledgable, caring and compassionate doctor, bringing a fresh enthusiasm and the latest information in patient care. 

Overseas experiences

DrXuobtained certificate of advanced clinical training for foreign medical practitioner issued by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare during her visit in Japan and performed comprehensive clinical work in Kyoto Prefecturual University hospital (April 2007-March 2008, April 2009-Oct. 2010). Greatly influenced by her Japanese supervisor, Prof. Jo Kitawaki, who is famous for his excellent work in endometriosis field, she also devoted herself to the work related to endometriosis. In May 2013, she opened the first Endometriosis Outpatient in Pudong District, Shanghai and established an Endometriosis Benefit Society aiming to supply medical aid and education for people with endometriosis.

Research work and Education

DrXu has been involved in research and educational works, with focus on basic and clinical research on endometriosis and Gynecologic Endocrinology. Over 30 papers were published in English, Japanese and Chinese. So far, over 15 postgraduate students have completed their dissertations and received master degree under her direct guidance.

She is capable of speaking, listening and writing fluently in English, Japanese, and Mandarin.
